Blood on Mattress

Hard·⏱ 30–60 min + drying
  1. Strip bedding and blot up as much blood as possible with a clean towel.

  2. Pour cold water sparingly on the stain and blot.

  3. Apply hydrogen peroxide to the stain — let it fizz for 1 minute, then blot.

  4. Repeat the peroxide step once more if blood remains.

  5. Rinse by blotting with cold water. Sprinkle baking soda, leave 1 hour, vacuum.

  6. Dry completely with a fan — at least 4–6 hours.

What you'll need

  • Cold water
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Table salt

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Never saturate the mattress — moisture trapped inside causes mould.
  • Never use hot water.

Pro tip

For menstrual blood on a mattress: the hydrogen peroxide + enzyme cleaner combination is the most effective. Act within 30 minutes for best results.

⚠ Warning

Hydrogen peroxide can lighten mattress fabric. Test on a corner first.
