Coffee on Cotton & Clothing

Easy·⏱ 10–15 min
  1. Blot up as much coffee as possible — work from the outside in.

  2. Run cold water through the back of the fabric to flush the stain outward.

  3. Apply dish soap directly, gently work it in with your fingertip.

  4. Rinse with cold water. If colour remains, dab white vinegar and rinse again.

  5. Machine wash on cold.

What you'll need

  • Cold water
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Never use hot water — the proteins in milk-coffee will set permanently.
  • Avoid rubbing — it spreads the tannin stain.

Pro tip

A squirt of liquid dishwasher detergent (not dish soap — the kind for machines) often works surprisingly well on coffee because of its strong surfactant blend.
